God’s Sustaining Grace
Growing up in a Christian home I had the privileged to spend many days at Youth Rallies, Camps and other Christian Events.
Listening to the testimonies of brothers and sisters in Christ, both young and old, over the years was certainly a means of encouragement for my spiritual growth and development. Many had been delivered from drug addiction or sexual immorality. Others had experienced God’s unexpected provision in times of lack and scarcity.
Now, just imagine that at times I felt ‘ashamed’. Ashamed? Huh?? I wished that I had no colourful testimony to share as my life seemed boring and uncomplicated. Oh how I must have grieved the heart of God.
You see, I was not mature enough to appreciate and understand God’s sustaining grace. This is what Holy Spirit revealed to me.
It is because of God’s sustaining grace that I did not give into peer pressure and had the backbone to say ‘NO!’.
Thanks to God's sustaining grace I was spared many a child hood hurt and pain.
Today I am extremely thankful and grateful to the faithful prayers and support of not only my immediate family but also my extended family, church families and friends.
So when your peers mock you and scorn you for being simple and naive; Give God thanks for your godly home and pray for your scoffers. You DO have a testimony. Your testimony is: God’s sustaining grace!.
Don’t allow the enemy to make you feel guilty for having Christian parents and a stable home. This IS your testimony; because of God’s sustaining grace.
Your friends admire you more than you think. They respect your commitment to following Christ. Hold on to God’s sustaining grace!
May you delight in God’s Word and find joy in the mundane routine of everyday school and life.
Rest assured that you can depend always on God’s sustaining grace!
Yours in Christ,
Vinette Walker.
